This week in Dadville, the fellas welcome Tauren Wells—singer, preacher, author, and full-time kid wrangler. His first book, Joy Bomb: Unleash Jesus's Explosive Joy for an Extraordinary Life, is a hands-on look at how to get more joy into your life. Tauren also spills the beans on starting his own church, raising four boys without losing his mind, and squeezing his own life into the cracks between soccer games and snack time.

Sometimes—the best times—there is a book that you read that feels like it was written for and to you. This is one of those books for me.
There are a lot of amazing books on this subject: Halftime, From Good to Great, Falling Upwards, but I would say this may be the magnum opus on those things. David Brooks is a gift to all of us, and in this book he bodyslams this subject with great ferocity.
This book is about growing up. What the second half, the second mountain, looks like.
Here’s to the climb.
Ok this week’s pick for me is very niche but dare I say it may be one of the most helpful I’ve offered.
I use a pair of Apple AirPod Pros and I love them. But every now and then one of the ear buds won’t connect. It’s super annoying and you just have to put them back in the case and hope they reset themselves or whatever.
And they always do.
Until about a week and a half ago. I put them on. The left one wasn’t connecting. I put them back in the case, took them out and put them in again. Still not connecting. I plugged them and charged them fully. No dice. I did a factory reset. Still nothing. I let the battery drain out completely (which took about a week). Still wouldn’t connect.
Then I found a Reddit thread talking about this exact thing and someone said you have to awkwardly spin them while they’re in the case. If it’s the right one giving you trouble you turn it clockwise, if it’s the left you go counter clockwise.
I did it a couple times. Put them in my ears and….
It didn’t connect.
Just kidding.
It worked!! I was so happy and grateful to the person who wrote that post. I tried to give it a thumbs up but then Reddit was gonna make me fill out a whole form and sign up, yada yada so I didn’t but if you’re reading this, whoever you are, THANK YOU!
And to everyone else, I hope this helps.
