“Don’t Call Me” by The Band Loula
I wrote this song with these freakishly talented duo. Writing with them is so inspiring and they are the kindest coolest peeps. Do yourself a favor and favor and go listen to this!
Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West
Reading this book right now. So, so, so fascinating. I can’t imagine what it would have taken to make the journey Lewis and Clark made. A great read.
Dawes - We’re All Gonna Die
A band at the height of its powers. A GREAT album and a must listen for any music fan.

What I’m Reading:
I have read some great books over the years that I picked out in the intense few moments before I board a flight and I’ve just realized I don’t have a book to read (I mean “intense few moments” literally as I like to get to the airport as late as possible). I run to the closest airport bookstore and judge all the books by their covers before I make my impulse buy.
Well, I bought this book under a similar, but slightly different, scenario because I had already boarded my flight when I realized I had no book. So in a panic (and I really do mean panic as I was about to fly for 11 hours with no book) I pulled up Audible, quickly scanned the books on the front page and landed on 10% Happier.
I’m not normally drawn to self-help books but I was pretty sure I had heard good things about this book, I liked the un-hyperbolic and realistic title, and also I literally had seconds until the plan was about to take off with no wi-fi so I got it.
The gist of the book is news anchor Dan Harris’ personal story of overworking himself into oblivion and eventually finding meditation to be a useful method to combat the noise of life. I have been meditating since 2019 when my counselor at Porter’s Call encouraged me to get into it. I’m not saying drop everything and read this book but I did enjoy it and especially if you are thinking about getting into meditation it’s a very honest and real account of what it’s like to try it out.
What I’m listening to:
Lizzy McAlpine.
I’ve been listening to Lizzy’s song “Pancakes For Dinner” for a year or so. I put it on my running playlist awhile back but, for some reason, I’m not someone who hears a great song by a new artist and then listens to other songs by that artist. It makes no sense. If I liked one of their songs surely I’ll like more, right?
But I just don’t take the time.
So the Spotify algorithm had to force my hand and eventually it fed me more songs by Lizzy McAlpine like “ceilings” & “older” among others.
What I’m Thinking About:
What questions to ask our next guest on the podcast. We are interviewing them in a couple hours. Hint: They are our producer Jason’s nemesis & they just retired at 35 years old.

Dadville Classic!
With so many shows in the archives, we thought it would be cool to highlight some older episodes for our newer citizens. Every Thursday we will dig deep into our back catalog and drop one of our favorite episodes.
Have you ever made a trick shot and wished you got it on video? Well, Tyler Toney rounded up a few college buddies and made an empire out of just that. Toney is part of Dude Perfect, a 5-man team of trick-shot connoisseurs. Between questionable attempts of a Dave and Jon sit-in, Toney describes how DP has evolved past the hard-to-believe trick shots, what it took to build a massively successful brand, and dealing with your kids' understanding of fame.
