A Parent's Guide to Saving for College
In this episode, we’re tackling the boss-level challenge of parenting teens headed for college with Dave Kozak of Elite College Planning. The fellas get real about the stress of saving for college (spoiler: most families feel behind), the ever-growing cost of tuition, and whether the whole college experience is actually worth the hype—or just a very expensive four-year experiment.
Enter Dave Kozak, our financial Yoda for the episode. He breaks down college savings like it’s Money 101 for Hogwarts parents—especially 529 plans, which are basically your magical vault at Gringotts. He also explains the difference between “green money” (the scholarships and grants—aka free money, the good stuff) and “red money” (loans, aka the dark side). Plus, he’s all about helping parents level up their strategy when it comes to understanding financial aid, college pricing games, and how to help your kid channel their inner Elle Woods and advocate for themselves.
So if college planning feels like trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded, this episode’s here to help you figure it out—and have a little fun along the way.

Call me a Blow Pop cause I’m a SUCKER for random gimmicky stuff at Home Depot. I was there this last weekend at 7:35am—never been more of a dad in my entire life and that includes the delivery rooms—and passed by one of these bad boys and I didn’t even THINK about not grabbing one.
To know me is to know my love of pressure washing - someday in my retirement I want to do it for friends/widows/random people I don’t know but have dirty driveways so I just do it and hope they are ok with it, but oddly enough I don’t own one. Doesn’t hurt when a guy you do a podcast with has one - until his doesn’t work - cough cough - so I was curious about how this little bad boy worked. Look, it ain’t the power of a pressure washer - no clue what the PSI on it is, but it’s pretty great for being a knock off - definitely a LOT more pressure than a water hose. I found myself just walking around my house blasting away random things that looked nefarious.
I would call it a gateway drug to a pressure washer.
I bet that sentence has never been said or typed in the history of the English language.
Or any language, for that matter.
Ok, this week may not be my strongest showing. I'm just calling it out up front here. But I'm hoping you'll forgive me and give me a pass because I'm just excited about this.
I'm playing my first ever show in London (the one in England) on June 3rd. (!!!)
Amy and I are taking the girls over there this summer for a little vacation and I figured I might as well take the opportunity to write off part of the vacation expense, right?
I'm playing at a really cool spot called Piano Smithfield and I couldn't be more excited. I love vacations but honestly the fact that I get to take a few hours and play some music in the middle of it only makes the vacation better.
So if you're in the London area or you just wanna get crazy and make a trip over there I'll see you at Piano Smithfield on June 3rd!
